Samuel M. Dawley, aged 81 years passed away suddenly at his home in W. Coalgate Monday about noon. He had been outside and went into the house,a short time later his wife found him laying across the bed. Life had flown.

Uncle Sam Dawley was born in Well county, Indiana, Oct. 31 1854. He had reached the three score and ten with more than a year to spare. Pioneer-when Colgate was established and a post office authorized it was necessary that someone be appointed as mail carrier from Coalgate to Lehigh and from Lehigh back to Coalgate. He was named as the first mail carrier and carried the mail for several months. He was also a coal miner for many years here.

Surviving are his wife Mrs. Alice Dawley and children, Roland Dawley and children, George Welty and children Mike Faletti,Robert Beck, a sister, 17 grandchildren,and 8 great grandchildren.

Services were held at the home of Elder C. A. Magness Tuesday and interment was made in Lehigh cemetery beside his mother.

Out of town people who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Madden and Roy of Henryetta, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Sinnett of Ada,Mr and Mrs. Joe Niehaus ,Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beck of Cromwell and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Beck of Seminole.
