Virginia Waits Turner, age 90, peacefully passed away June 9, 2020 at The Retreat Nursing Home in Monticello.

Virginia was born to the late Willie E. Waits and Essie Collins Waits July 9, 1929 and lived in Flovilla, until she married Charles Tate Turner in 1951 and moved to Hillsboro. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Tate, and by her brothers, Edward, Emory, and Carlton, as well as sisters, Catherine Waits Cochran and Joanne Waits Gable. She was also preceded in death by her step-grandson, Nick Elmer.

Virginia was an active member of Hillsboro Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Her late husband served as deacon and she served in the Loraine Dumas Outreach Ministry, touching many lives. She served as the Postmaster in Hillsboro for many years before retiring to enjoy time with her family. Virginia enjoyed family gatherings and was very generous with family members.

Virginia is survived by her son, Charles Tate Turner, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Carrie, and by her beloved granddaughter, Kaci Kristina Turner Rehwald (Matt). Virginia was also survived by step-grandson, Mitchell Nelson (Jodi) and by her great-grandson, Tate Rehwald; step-great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Nelson; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at West View Cemetery in Monticello at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hillsboro Baptist Church; 2326 Hwy 11 S; Hillsboro, GA 31038.
