John Horton Pope (1869-)(WashingtonU c1891) lived in Philadelphia. He was a civil engineer who specialized in railway and harbor construction in the U.S., Manila, Guatemala, Bolivia and Uruguay. He married in 1896, Hope C. Cox (1871-1937), daughter of Gov. Jacob Dolson (1828-1900)(Oberlin 1851) and Helen Clarissa Finney Cox (1828-1911). Her father was an attorney, governor of Ohio, 1866-68, U.S. Secretary of the Interior, 1869-70, U.S. Congressman, 1877-79, president of the University of Cincinnati, 1897-, and a major general in the Civil War.

John Horton Pope's father was Major General John Pope (1822-92) who married in 1859, Clara Pomeroy Horton (1834-88), daughter of Valentine B. Horton (1802-88) who was a Member of Congress from Pomeroy, Ohio. Their four children were Horton (1864-1953), John Horton (1869-), Lucretia (1872-1969) who lived in Florence, Italy; and Gen. Francis Horton Pope (1876-1971).

Horton Pope (1864-1953)(Harvard Law c1886) was a lawyer in Denver. He married in 1908, Anne “Nancy” Lucas Turner (1870-1950) but left no issue.

Brigadier General Francis Horton Pope (1876-1971)(West Point 1897) lived in Philadelphia. He served in the Spanish-American War in 1898, in the Philippines, 1899-1905, Cuba Occupation, 1899, in France during WWI, and was assistant quartermaster general of the Army, 1927-31. He was a math instructor at West Point, 1899-1903. He married (1) in 1908, Harriet Velina Ankeny (1889-1932), daughter of U.S. Senator Levi Schmidt (1844-1921) and Mary Jane Nesmith Ankeny (1848-1918), of Walla Walla, Wash. Their daughter was Mary Ankeny Pope (1909-82). He married (2) in 1924, Blanche Wilson (1876-1963), daughter of David Wilson, of Maryland.
