Joseph Thomas "Tom" Moody was born about 1843 and died Before 1900. He is listed on the 1880 census and the 1890 census is missing. Since some of the family started moving to Texas only until the early 1900s, I believe he lived past the 1890s.

According to his granddaughter, Arabelle Moody Slater, he and his wife are buried in Friendship Cemetery. I do not know if the grave is unmarked or just not photographed.

He was married to Sarah "Sallie" (Sherman) Alexander.

They had 5 children together: Robert Nathaniel Moody, John W. Moody, William Joseph Moody, Isaac "Ike" Walter Moody, Loransey Lee Moody. Sallie had three children from her first marriage to James Alexander: James Arthur Alexander and Thomas Henry Alexander, and E. E. Alexander (died as a baby).

After the death of Joseph Thomas Moody, the family sold the land and estate and moved to Texas. The small children and women came on the train to Texas. The brothers flipped a coin to see which of them would go with the women and Robert won. So Ike, Lee, and Tom went with the rest of the men to Tx by covered wagon. Each brother bought a farm and settled around Navarro County, Texas.
