James Bailey passed June 8, 2020. He had been battling pneumonia and was in the hospital. James was born April 14, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Civil Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science degree at MIT. His family owned the concrete block business on Ralph McGill Avenue known as Concrete Manufacturing. The firm was one of the few that used high pressure steam curing to produce units that were immediately ready for use in wall construction. James promoted the use of architectural masonry units to architects and engineers and most notably their use in the Georgia World Congress Center. James retired in 1999 from Blue Circle Williams as their masonry architect representative. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, in 2017. James was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a devout Catholic.
