Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Smith will be held Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 12 noon at Greenland Cemetery in Union, MS with Rev. Tim Vowell officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, 79, of Union, MS died Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

She was a native of Neshoba County and longtime resident of Greenland Community of Newton County. She formerly worked at Decatur Shirt Factory, Glove Factory, U.S. Motors, Country Grocery in Greenland Community, Service Station with tractor and implements (Smith’s Implement), Spaceway Oil Company, Brooks Manufacturing and Williams Brothers. Mrs. Smith was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita Watkins (Junior) of Philadelphia; son, Danny “Dano” Smith (Tracy) of Union; grandchildren, Kimberly Watkins and Cody Smith; sisters, Christine Johnson of Philadelphia, Frances Goldman of Columbus; brother, Norman Coats of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews and their families.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Temple Smith; parents, C. Bell and Lucill Coats.
