Mrs. Della Mae Ashley, 88, of Peoria and formerly from Abingdon, passed away at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the Generations Nursing Home of Peoria.
She was born December 8, 1931 near Vermont, Illinois, the daughter of Irby A. and Mae (Emminger) Johnson. She married Larry A. Ashley on August 1, 1954 in Abingdon.
Della is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Larry, her children Lynn (Keith) Braucht of Bloomington, Illinois, Stacey (Graig) Bitner of Washington, Illinois, Lisa (David) Sheckler of Peoria, Brian Ashley of Galesburg; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Ella Stotler and her brother, Irby Johnson.
She attended Abingdon schools and worked at Gross Galesburg for several years.
As she requested, cremation will be accorded. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, private graveside service will be held at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremations Services is in charge of arrangements.
