He married Judith Doreen O’Donoghue in September of 1969.
He worked as a welder for Allison’s for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he worked for Stabilized Energy Systems as a welder, and then Dillard worked as a driver for CSX Transport and Railroad Express. He was a member of the Plainfield Eagles Lodge #3207 for over 30 years and was a 3 time past president. Additionally, Dillard was a member of the American Legion Post. He is a veteran of the Army National Guard. Dillard loved playing with his grandsons and being with his family. He also liked golfing, hunting, and riding horses.
Dillard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Doreen Benge; daughter Dillana Doreen Benge-Jones; grandsons Hudson Philip Jones and Atlas Flynn Jones; brothers Fred Benge and Bill Benge; 14 nieces and 10 nephews.
A private service will be held at Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
