Finley W. Munson, one of the pioneer residents of this city, died at his home on Sanford Heights this morning at 1:30 after a short illness. Up to within a few months ago Mr. Munson, despite his advanced age, was one of the most active citizens of Sanford and rode to and from the city or walked the distance of almost a mile each day and and on Sunday and was one of the best preserved men in the city. Not even the hardships of a soldier's life in the Civil War seemed to have left their mark on his physical being and his wonderful endurance was the talk of his many acquaintances.

Finley Munson was 82 years of age at the time of his death and he had been a resident of this city for the past forty years of more. He was a native of Ohio and served in the Civil War with honor to himself and was a most ardent defender of the stars and stripes. It is sad to think that almost upon the eve of another Memorial day he will not be in the parade and carry the flag as was his won't in the years gone by.

Deceased leaves one son, Carl Munson, of Tampa, and gran daughters here, Misses Zoe, and Fannie Reba Munson, and a loving wife who has devoted many years of her life in making the old veteran comfortable in their home. His was such a familiar figure in the life of the city and in church life that he will be sadly missed from the community and many hearts will be saddened to learn of his death.

The funeral will occur from the Congregational church tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock, interment being made in Lakeview Cemetery.
