Nettie Neva (Morgan) Asbury, 85 years old, passed away Friday evening, June 5, 2020 in Mesquite, Texas. Nettie was born to Joseph Alvin and Dennie Lee (Bryant) Morgan in Weleetka, Oklahoma on January 20, 1935. She married her high school sweetheart Howard Asbury in the summer of 1953. After Howard completed his service with the United States Marine Corps, they left Oceanside California, for Morris, Oklahoma. It was in Morris that their first child was born, Sharon Elaine. After moving to Okmulgee their second child was born, James Howard. They made Okmulgee their home and it was there they lived their blest life for the next 50 years until Howards death in 2009. Her beloved daughter Sharon pass away unexpectedly in 2012. Nettie continued to live in her home until 2015 when she moved to Texas to be near her son. Nettie worked as a switchboard operator for Bell systems, and OSU Tech. She also retired from the Okmulgee School Systems as a cafeteria worker. Words cannot express her kind loving caring gentle spirit. She loved her children, grand kids and great grandchildren. Nettie enjoyed her family, dear friends, books of poems, gardening, birds, baking and sewing. Nettie was a Christian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Nettie is preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father in law Jimmie and Nellie Asbury, husband Howard, daughter Sharon, siblings J.D. Morgan, Bryant Morgan, Nell Lewis, Mildred Clevenger, Amanda Fernandez, Mary Jane Morgan, Susan Mason, and Virginia Durbin.

Those left to cherish the memories of Nettie are her son James Asbury Mesquite, Texas, grandchildren Shelly Melton and husband Kale, Josh Smith, Whitney Tiger and husband Chris, Maren Asbury, Graham Asbury, great grandchildren Caleb Melton, Logan Melton, Addison Grace Melton, ,Kainen Melton Michael Smith, Mark Smith, Jacob Smith, Jaiden Harley, Josilyn Holuby. Christine Hackney a special niece who was like a sister, and her dear sister Patsy Hunter and her husband Lawrence.
