Edith Catherine Parnell Merritt, 77, of White Hall, died Monday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1926, at Kingsland, she was a daughter of the late William Lewis Parnell and Ida Belle Mitchell Parnell.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Oak Park Free Will Baptist Church and the Oak Park Prayer Chain.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Parnell and Floy Parnell; two sisters, Corine Seymore and an infant sister; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, James I. Merritt Sr.; five sons, Jimmy Holloway and James I. Merritt Jr., both of Pine Bluff, Richard Merritt and Roger Merritt, both of White Hall, and Stephen Merritt of Sheridan; two daughters, Cathy White of White Hall and Linda F. Burroughs of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Robert Parnell of Tennessee and B.C. Parnell of Fordyce; a sister, Marie Bernard of Vilonia; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Park Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Levan Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hale-South Funeral Home.
