Born in Saginaw, Michigan, he had lived in Omaha for 12 years, and he had lived in Galveston, Texas, until 1922 when he came to Lincoln.
Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Elmo (Veriel) Nickell of Lincoln; sons, G. Matthew Jr. of Lincoln and Marcus of Central City; and 7 grandchildren.
