Born in Woodstock, Oxford County; son of Hugh M. and Jane (Watson) Donaldson. Married first to Mary H. Vail circa 1868 in Almont. Saloon operator on Main Street, Almont in 1873. Pitcher in first baseball tournament held in Lapeer County. Later occupation as auctioneer, residing East St. Clair Street, Almont in 1880 and later on Law Street, Lapeer. Married second to Rebecca Ward 4 November 1891.
