Deceased: EDGAR W. BRUMLEY; Date: April 22, 2003
Edgar Wright Brumley, 80, passed away suddenly April 20, 2003.
He was the son of the late Edgar Wright Brumley Sr. and Minnie Brumley of Knotts Island, N.C. where he grew up spending many hours on Knotts Island Bay enjoying hunting, fishing and boating. Ed was a true waterman leaving memories that will be shared for years to come.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bessanna Spence Brumley; three daughters, Dina McClanan and husband Wayne of Currituck, N.C., Rebecca Salmons and Pamela Crosson and husband Max, all of Virginia Beach; a brother, Paul Brumley and wife Judy of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Neil McClanan of Moyock, N.C., Laura Ashley Salmons and Kelsey Jo Crosson both of Virginia Beach.
Ed was a father figure and friend to many nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved. He is predeceased by three sisters, Nita Dixon, Adell Fentress and Ruth Etheridge.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 691 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Chuck Moseley and the Rev. Frank Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Creeds Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 57036, Virginia Beach. Arrangements by Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. "
