Joan E. Atwood-McMahon, 76, of East Peoria passed away at 9:33 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Petersburg, Ill., on April 5, 1931, to Edward W. and Bessie H. Ferguson. She married William R. Atwood on April 17, 1953, in Bloomington, Ill. He died in 1984. She later married James C. McMahon. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Brenda (Francis Jr.) Baker; five grandchildren, Alexis, Kyle, Amanda, Justin and Brook; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Blanch; and one son, Wesley Atwood.
Joan was a member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church in Peoria. She was a life member of National Home and VFW Post 2078 Aux. in East Peoria, the American Legion Aux. Post 979 in Bartonville, and the Peoria AMVETS Post 63.
Cremation will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Creal Springs, Ill., at a later date.
