We celebrate the life of Gary G. Allison, COL, USAF (ret). Gary was born on October 22, 1936 in Teague, Texas and left us on May 30th, 2020 surrounded by family. A 6' 3" Texan, anyone who met the Colonel would recall him as a colorful character, quick with a tale or funny story embellished with home town colloquialisms that are sure to make you laugh. He loved to hunt, fish, and tell a great story. But most of all, he loved his country and being with his friends and family. The Colonel served for 33 years in the United States Air Force and those duties sent him all over the world. Notably, he was awarded the Legion of Merit twice, four Meritorious Service Medals, and the Bronze Star. Everywhere he stopped on this journey he made friends. He didn't care if you were officer or enlisted, wealthy or poor; those were not the criteria by which he measured himself or others. Quick with wit, and colorful of language, Gary had charisma and an understanding of people that made him a natural leader and endeared him to his troops. Generous, boisterous, and full of life, he touched the lives of all around him. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond, sister Mildred, and nephew Ralph. Gary is survived by his wife Somchit (Toy), his children, Gary Jr and wife Cindy, Laylia (Bea) and husband Dennis, Lea Ann and husband Dagan; his grandchildren, Katie, Cassie, Jonathan, J.J., Kyler, Travis, and Mazen; his nephew John, and many dear friends around the world.
