August Scott Anderson, 83, departed this life on June 1, 2020, in the comfort of his home after a recent decline in health.

Scott entered this life on November 17, 1936, in rural Stanley, Kansas, born to the union of Clarence Leroy and Ruth Harmon Anderson. He was raised and attended school in Stanley, Kansas.

On December 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sylvia Crum and together they have shared the last 57 years. They resided in Overland Park and Louisburg, Kansas before moving to Anderson, Missouri in 1977.

For several years he was a Realtor specializing in commercial real estate and was licensed in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Upon moving to Anderson, he made the decision to become a fulltime rancher, a career he thoroughly enjoyed. He was passionate about KU Basketball, attending his grandchildren’s activities, cooking, fishing, arrowhead hunting and providing business consulting advice. Scott was a member of the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, Gayle Turnley; and brothers, Leroy, Lowell and Clarence.

Survived by his wife, Sylvia Anderson; children, Rose Turnley, Sonya Hancock, Sofia (Kevin) Hurley, Dawn (Steve) Morley, Terry Anderson, Douglas (Christy) Anderson, Tim Anderson, Sarah Smith and Jeremy (Tish) Anderson; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, David Anderson, Eddie Anderson and Emmett Anderson; sisters, Marguerite Turnley, Editha Propst, Mary Ellen Jesse, Dorothy Wheat and Ada Jane Anderson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Scott will be held on June 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Missouri with Justin Steadman, Joshua Manning and Jared Procter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery.

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Dylan Smith, Nathan Anderson, Colten Anderson, Michael Morley, Aaron Morley and Jeremiah Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Austin McLean, Matthew Johnston, Jacob Morley, Phillip Bentz, Michael Abruzzo and Collin Randles.
