Canton, IL - Rolland Terry Buffum, 72, of 1155 S. Main St. died at 10:07 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born July 5, 1935, in Canton to Rollo and Georgia (Mann) Buffum. They preceded him in death. He married Janet Glasford on July 2, 1955, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Rolland Terry Buffum Jr. of South Haven, MS; and two daughters, Cindy (Dwayne) Bernard and Crystal (Michael "Roy") Hardesty, both of Canton. Grandchildren include Amy (Scott) Yerbic, Evan Hardesty, Melissa (Sean) Dean, Aubra Shepard and Cami, Matt and Drew Bernard; also five great-grandchildren, Kiyah, Ryan, Zoe and Ean Yerbic and Logan Dean; one brother, Mark Buffum of Cuba; in-laws, Royal and Dorothy Glasford of Canton; and sisters-in-law, Linda (Rod) Rumler of Mississippi and Celia (Ward) Kelly of Colorado; and there are many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that survive.

He graduated from Canton High School in 1953.

He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 35 years, last working in the Mossville plant.

He had many interests and loved working in the outdoors. He loved animals and birds, having many pets. He enjoyed auctions, fishing, playing baseball, bowling, ham radios and motorcycles.

He was a member of the NRA and a charter member of the Gear Jammers Auto Club.

He was a loving husband and proud father. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all knew him as "Pop." His grandchidren were the light of his life, and he always made time for them.

He was of the Christian faith.

Cremation rites will be accorded and the interment of ashes will be in Shields Chapel Cemetery.
