A Revolutionary War veteran. Zebina Day served in Captain Sawyer's company, among others, under Major Ebenezer Allen as a member of the Vermont Militia known as the Green Mountain Boys. He spent 14 months and 22 days as a Private, 2 months as a corporal and 2 months as a drummer. He entered the service from Danby, Vermont. He was living in Wilton, New York, by September, 1832. He entered the service from Danby, joining first for a 6-8 week term in the 1776 to serve under General Gates, Captain William Gage, and Major Rose. He was assigned to help build the block house at Rutland. He served three more terms in 1777 signing up initially for about a month in the Spring. He was given leave to attend to his ill father. He returned for about 10 days in late June to assist in the siege at Ticonderoga. He served at Rutland for about month in the Fall.

He signed back up as a substitute for Corporal Randal in the Fall of 1778 for two months serving at Rutland, then again for 3 or 4 weeks, in Captain Sawyer's Company under Major Whitecomb. He served for 3-4 weeks under Captain Ebenezer Wilson with whom he marched to Chimney Point on Lake Champlain. Following the enemy attack on Rutland where women and children were taken, he and other men under Colonel Claghorn returned to Rutland for another 10 days, but did not have the opportunity to engage the enemy troops.

When he volunteered in the Winter of 1779, he served the next 15 or so months under Captains Smith, Sawyer (twice), Brunson and Noble.

He joined Captain Thomas Sawyer's company of militia on 21 June 1879 and served until August 20. The until traveled 5 miles and provided pay of 4 pounds, 6 shillings and 4 pence.

He served as a Drummer in the 15th Vermont Militia of Colonel Warren's Regiment, Captain Smith's Company, for it's duration., 3-28 February, 1879, earning 2 pound, and 12 shillings.

From March 1 1780 to December 1 of the same year, Zebina served in Captains Parmela Allen's company for which he was paid 18 pounds.

Son of William & Catherine (Smith) Day, brother of Anthony Day (September 3, 1762-October 22, 1849) and Hannah Day (d May 19, 1824, aged 60 years and about 7 months).
