Mary's descendants DNA match the Meltons of Newton County, Georgia. Accordingly, this is Mary's 1850 census:

She married James W Daniel in 1868, and had the following children: R.C. 1868,
Elizabeth F 1870, George 1873, Walter 1877, Lillie 1879. Censuses say both of her parents were born in Georgia. Mary was in censuses in 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920, all in District 12 in Tipton County.
Those who knew her said she was caucasian, and married a full Cherokee. Native American features we plainly visible in her grandchildren, including dark skin, straight hair, and no facial hair. Mary's brother-in-law Ebenezer was known around town as Hurricane Horse. Her husband sometimes used the nickname "Bird".

Mary's death certificate says she is buried in Mt Lebanon Cemetery near Covington, Tennessee. Her gravestone has not been found.
