Minnie Jane Lusk Brandon, age 93, passed away quietly in her home Wednesday, May 27, 2020. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She and her twin sister were born October 26, 1926, in Vaughn, Mississippi, to Sherman and Minnie Lusk. After the death of their mother, the twins were raised by their paternal aunt and her husband, John and Mamie Patridge. Since John was a Baptist minister, they lived in the Mississippi Delta throughout her childhood. After graduating from high school, she attended Holmes Community College in Goodman, where she majored in Biology. After college, she worked for the post office in Sunflower, where she eventually met her husband, Horace Monroe Brandon. They initially settled in Indianola, where he was working as an auto mechanic, before returning to his hometown of Coffeeville. They started a family, and Jane settled into the happy role of homemaker. For many years, she was the host for her two children’s friends and their various activities. An avid gardener, Jane could be found most days outside working in her flowers and keeping her yard beautiful, an activity she enjoyed until the last months of her life. Jane embraced her role as grandmother to six grandchildren, often keeping all of them on weekends, holidays and summer breaks. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren and spoiling her great-grandchildren. She and her family were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Coffeeville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Monroe Brandon, her mother, Minnie Hayden Lusk, her father, Sherman Lusk, John and Mamie Patridge, her half-sister Peggy Lusk Larkin, and her half-brothers Pete Lusk and Tommy Lusk. She is survived by her twin sister Ruth Lusk Wolfe, her son Eddie (Gloria Gatlin) Brandon, daughter Barbara (Joe) Perry, grandchildren Melissa (Clay) Hall, Stephanie Moore, Frank Brandon, Iva (Mark) Modisette, Steve (Julia) Brandon, and Jim (Chellsee) Perry, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Coffeeville Cemetery with Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Pallbearers will be Frank Brandon, Steve Brandon, Jim Perry, John Michael Black, Monroe Perry, Jacob Black, and James Allen Boatman.
