He is survived by his parents, Julius “Joe” and Sarah Istre of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Thomas Istre; paternal grandparents, Julius and Shirley Dressel Istre; maternal grandparents, Cassie and Robert Weldon, Jack and Gwen Genry; and a great-great-grandmother, Lelia Smith.
