Elda Goodrich Birchell, 84, died at her home Thursday, April 9, 1998.
She was born November 17, 1913 in Bluebell, Utah to Leslie Bruce and Almira Hancock Goodrich. She married Garnett Birchell October 31, 1939 in Roosevelt; later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He died March 19, 1990.Elda really enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers; she was honored with the Roosevelt City Beautification Award in recognition of her beautiful yard...at age 82! She was a great cook and homemaker and was immaculate about her home and self. She was a dietician in the Roosevelt hospital and also worked as a beautician for many years. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Elda's special love was for her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by children and spouses, Boyd and Frances Birchell, SLC; Norman and Sharon Birchell, Roosevelt; Pamela and Larry Bryson, SLC; Barry and Ann Birchell, Ballard; Dennis Birchell, Big Timber, MT; Patricia and Blaine Bailey, SLC; sisters, Veda Barnes, Bountiful; Velva Owen, SLC; Larene Kimball, SLC; and Virginia Jackson, St. George; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Leland and Owen Goodrich; sisters, Reatha Harmston and Thelma Shields; and grandsons, John Barry Birchell and Norman Troy Birchell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 13 at the Roosevelt LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary Sunday, 7-9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
