Mary Ann Campbell

1942-2021

On the morning of September 28, 2021, Mary Ann passed away after her courageous battle with cancer while at home with her daughter. During this last struggle with cancer, she was under the care of the loving staff from Excell Hospice who helped her through this journey.

Mary Ann was born on December 22, 1942, at her aunt's house in Garden City, Kansas. She was the fifth child of Aloysious A. Dreiling and Albertina M. Dreiling (Urban). She grew up in Garden City, Kansas and attended St. Mary's Catholic School up to the eighth grade. She finished the rest of her education at Garden City High School.

She married Jerry Lee Campbell, Sr. in Garden City, Kansas on August 20, 1960. Throughout the course of their marriage, they lived in several locations before settling in Edmond in 1962. They had four children: Patty, Jerry Jr., Larry and Joe.

She worked at Edmond Hospital in patient care for many years before transitioning into medical office management for several different physicians in the Edmond area. She retired shortly after the death of her husband in 1996. She stayed home and spent time with her family for several years before returning to work with Edmond Public Schools. She worked in nutritional services and loved spending time around all of the students.

Mary Ann loved the holidays, spending time with family and playing pitch. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her garden. She also had a passion for rescue dogs and providing them with a loving home.

She was most known for her fun sense of humor and "MeMe's Pearls of Wisdom." Some of these include "the foundation is there" and "wouldn't the world be a boring place is we were all the same?" She was also fond of following these phrases up with "Yes, yes yes. You got it."

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, parents Al and Albertina Dreiling, brother John Dreiling, sister Sylvia Simmons, sister-in-law Helen Dreiling, brother-in-law Melvin Fry, brother-in-law Donald Penka, brother-in-law Larry D. Campbell and son-in-law David Carroll.

She is survived by her children Patty Carroll, Jerry and Jennifer Campbell, Larry and LeAnn Campbell, Joe and Jodi Campbell and her sisters Violet Fry and Lily Penka along with twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

We would like to thank Jordan, Robin and everyone from Excell Hospice that was involved with her care.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Friday, October 1st at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery Edmond, OK.19
