Services are Thursday for Albert William Provis, who died Monday at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was 50.

Born in San Francisco, Mr. Provis lived in Southern California before moving to Santa Cruz 15 years ago. While in Southern California, he worked for the water and power company for 10 years. After moving to Santa Cruz he worked for Santa Cruz County.

He graduated from University High School in Los Angeles and later attended Claremont Men's College in Pomona and UC Berkeley. He was a lifelong Episcopalian.

He is survived by his mother. Flora Louise Provis of Santa Cruz and his sister, Elizabeth A. Provis of Big Hear Lake.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Memorial Park. Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz with the Rev. David Jones of Calvary Episcopal Church presiding. Chapel of the Four Seasons is in charge of the arrangements.
