She was a daughter of George Franklin Schwalls and Eva Dell Kemp Schwalls. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. In addition to her parents and husband, Durell Lemuel Donaldson, she was preceded in death by a son, David Durell Donaldson. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Donaldson Doty and Theresa Donaldson Veale; five grandchildren, Laura Doty Hesse, Marie Doty Burke, Lisa Berry Crowley, Becky Berry and James Waters III, and a number of great-grandchildren.
