Sharon Aamold, 76, Mayville, ND passed away October 18, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home, after a long and hard fought journey.
Sharon was born April 4, 1942, the daughter of Shirley and Mildred (Brainerd) Horner. Sharon attended country school, at Primrose #3. She graduated from Portland High School, in 1960.

She married Kenneth Aamold, on July 10, 1960. Sharon and Kenny were married in Halstad, MN and just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary at Luther Memorial Home. On their 50th wedding anniversary, they made a trip back to the church they were married in. They lived in Portland and Finley, ND and then purchased a farmstead in 1976, outside of Mayville, where she resided, until she entered Luther Memorial Home.
Sharon worked for 40 years, at the Peter Boe Jr Elementary School. She fed her first group of kids, and worked long enough at the job to feed the 2nd generation. Many of the students attending school there, including the teachers, were well aware of the good food smells coming out of the kitchen at the school. She made everything from scratch, including fresh rolls, at times. She was well known for her cooking skills, and the fact she could make such mass quantities of food taste as good as if it was cooked for her family at home.
There was nothing more important to Sharon than to have her family home and make a great meal for them; get the dishes washed; “get out the instrument’s” for some family music. She would sit back, tap her foot, and sometimes sing along. She made every person feel like a member of the family when they entered her home. The coffee was on, treats passed and the visiting began. She had a great sense of humor and the best laughter around.
Sharon was a member of Aal Lutheran Church for many years. She belonged to Ladies Aid, and Circle groups. These last couple of years she has been a member of Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.
She is survived by her husband: Kenneth Aamold; sons: Larry (Michelle), Todd, Steve, and Bryan (Tracy); grandchildren: Molly Jo Bullis, Jacob Aamold, Michael, Nathan, Colton, Haley Rose and Andrew Aamold; two great grandchildren: Liam Bullis and Zayne Aamold. Also surviving is one sister: Joyce LaChapelle, and her friend, Jerome Ruden.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a baby brother: Albert Henry; numerous aunts, uncles and her grandparents.
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. “Abe Lincoln”.
Sharon’s years were well lived.
