Lola Estelle Bettis Ulrich, 86, of Glenwood, passed away on June 4, 2010 after a long courageous battle with melanoma cancer.

She was born and raised in Marietta, GA, and spent her adult life in Miami, FL. She was Baptist. She married Curley Wilson Ulrich on September 7, 1947 and raised their three daughters in Miami. She worked in banking from high school until starting her family and after until retirement in 1989. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, which she taught her daughters, as well as reading and crossword puzzles.

She was predeceased by her husband, Curley in 2001, her parents and youngest sister.

She is survived by her three daughters: Vicki (Jeff) Hogle of Broomfield, CO, Lynn (Gary) Thompson of DeLand, FL and Judy (Marty) Katz, Santa Fe, NM; her sister, Polly (Lothar) Patelsky of DeLand; grand-daughters: Jennifer (Paul) Oropesa of Broomfield, CO, Emily Hogle (Jack Cheung) Boulder, CO; grandsons: Shaun (Joi) Thompson, and AZ3 Heath Thompson, NAS Le Moore, CA; two great-grand-daughters: Lola & Ruby Oropesa; and four great-grandsons: Anthony, Connor, Joseph and Tyler Thompson; two nieces; four nephews; and their children.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Lankford Funeral Home Chapel. Donations can be made in her memory to Vitas Hospice Charitable Foundation, 533 North Nova Road, Suite 206, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 or to the American Cancer Society, 1737 N. Clyde Morris Boulevard, #140, Daytona Beach, FL 32117, in lieu of flowers.
