VIRGINIA BEACH - Dan Trammell Spence Sr., 76, went to be with his wife, Ramona S. Spence in heaven on March 9, 2006. Born in 1930 in Princess Anne County on the family farm, he was the son of the late Charlie and Nettie Spence. Mr. Spence was also predeceased by his daughter, Karen S. Ross. He retired with more than 40 years of service with Camilla Food Store as the director of perishables. Mr. Spence served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 25 for more than 50 years.
Mr. Spence is survived by his son, Dan T. Spence Jr. of Virginia Beach; brother, Hunter N. Spence of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Wendy Rutan of Williamsburg, Va., John D. Dasinger of Newport News and Jamie Spence of Virginia Beach; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 685 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, with Dr. A. Wayne Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
