On Thursday evening, January 6, 2022, Pearl Lucille (Lucas) Fisher, age 96, a resident of River Terrace, Bluffton, IN, was welcomed into the arms of her loving Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband and son.
Pearl was born March 23, 1925, to Carl and Gladys (Marshall) Lucas in Jay County, IN. She grew up in Jay and Wells Counties on the family farms and graduated from Petroleum High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Francis J. Fisher, on December 28, 1946; they were married for 52 years.
Francis and Pearl began their married life together by traveling across the country as Francis served in the regular Navy from 1947 to 1949. When Francis joined the Naval Reserves, they settled down on the Fisher family farm south of Petroleum, IN. Together they worked the farm, raised two children, and drove school buses. Pearl served as a 4-H Leader for Nottingham Township, organized and led a 4-H club at Vera Cruz Handicap School, and held various local and county officer positions in the Wells County Extension Homemakers.
For years, Pearl taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees in the Petroleum church. Her faith in Christ was a vital part of her life. Through her example and teachings, she left a spiritual legacy to many of those she encountered.
Pearl especially enjoyed fulfilling the role of grandma and cherished visits from her "adopted" grandchildren [Nathan (Katie) Stauffer; Megan (Chad) Hite; John (Renae) Stauffer; Daniel (Leslie) Stauffer; and Amanda Pinkerton (Diego) Unigarro] and, more recently, visits of the "adopted" great-grandchildren.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Susan (Paul) Harrison of Menomonie, WI; her sisters, Wilma Terhune and Cora Barger; her brother, Carl Jr. Lucas; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; son, Jerry; sisters, Helen McFarren and Waneta Bennett; brothers, Gerald Lucas and Richard Lucas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at the Petroleum United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Andrews and Rev. Steve Bard officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 at the Thoma/Rich Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Alberson Cemetery in Adams County.
