"Paul F. Alberts, 99, died at 4:59 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005, in the emergency room of Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 10, 1906, in Rockford, the son of Aaron and Annie (Bixler) Alberts. Married the former Mona Erickson in 1932, who was the mother of his five children; she preceded him in death. Married Hildagarde Krieter in 1960; she died March 7, 1998. Paul was a lifelong resident of Rockford. Graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1924 and attended Lake Forest College. He was employed by Geo D. Roper Corp. for 40 years. Upon retirement, he went to work at Excelsior Inc. for 20 years, retiring at the age of 82. Paul was a 30-year member of West Suburban Fire Department, where he was the chief for 10 years, retiring in 1977. Survived by sons, Ronald (Sally) Alberts and Roger (Barbara) Alberts, both of Rockford; daughters, June (Carl) Steward of Rockford and Judy Albright of South Bend, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by daughter, Joanne; grandsons, Mike Alberts and Steven Dolan; four brothers; and one sister.
Service at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, in Advantage Funeral and Cremation Service, 7000 W. State St., with the Rev. Dr. William Richard Kerr Sr. officiating. Interment in Willwood Burial Park."
