Richard “Rick” James Crawford was born on May 23, 1955, in Waterloo, the son of Richard H. and Betty (Finks) Crawford. Rick graduated from Dysart-Geneseo High School in 1973.
On October 27, 1973, he married Sue Kriz in Traer. The couple made their home in Dysart.
Rick farmed his land and his parent’s land on Highway 8 near Dysart for many years. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, family vacations, fixing, repairing, wrestling, playing pranks, and spending time with his family and friends. Rick also had a love for animals.
He was diagnosed with brain cancer in December of 2014. Rick died at the age of 64 on May 15, 2020, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sue of Dysart; a son, Kirk (Amy) Crawford of Dysart; two daughters, Kamie Hurley of Cedar Falls and Kelli Crawford of Chicago; five grandchildren, Kody and Kolten Crawford and Madison, Kayla, and Rylan Hurley; and a sister, Rita Schofield of Minneapolis.
