He and his first wife are the parents of eight children.
Matthew was a minister for the Methodist Episcopal church for over thirty years. And had a great interest in his Christian faith. He was also a very successful business man of Butler as well as Armstrong county, working with various enterprises and aiding in the growth of his community.
