Aurelius Homer Agard, Oakland, Cal., was born in Wadsworth, Medina Co., O., Oct. 10th, 1822, of New England parents, whose ancestry was English and Welsh. His early education was obtained under private tuition, and at Western Star Seminary; studied medicine in the office of Dr. A. Fisher, Western Star, Oh.; attended lectures at Cleveland med. Coll., and Jefferson med. coll., Philadelphia, and graduated at the latter in 1849.
He settled in Western Star, where he remained seven years, and then removed to Sandusky City, in 1856; after being nineteen years in the latter place he removed to Oakland, Cal. He is a member of the Summit Co. med. Soc.; the Erie Co. med. soc.; the Northwestern med. assoc., Oh.; also the Ohio State med. soc., was its vice president in 1875; he is besides a member of the Alameda co. med assoc., is its vice president; member of the med. soc. of the State of California; and member of the Am. med. association. He has contributed some papers to the medical journals, the most important being one on "Diffuse Traumatic Aneurism", American Journal of Medical Science, April 1856. From 1863 to 1876 he was pension surg. at Sandusky, O.
In Oct 1849, he married Hattie F., daughter of Dr. Joseph Cole, of Akron, Oh.; she died in 1854. In 1856 he married May R., daughter of P.A. More, Esq., of Sharon, Medina co., Oh.
