After a life dedicated to her family, she is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Michael and Eva Duke of Columbia, SC; Ken and Noemi Duke of Loganville Ga; Larry and Kay Duke of Jackson, GA, Lynne Stepp and Mark Walters of Hayesville, NC and Al and Paola Duke of McDonough, GA.
She was affectionally known by the grandchildren and great grandchildren as Mama Dot. Grandchildren include Gene and Kristen Mello, Lacie and Michael Duke, Jr, Brandon and Rupa Duke, Derek Duke, Bethany and Josh Foley, Daniel and Charity Duke, Nathan and Allie Duke, Brian and Elizabeth Baker, Brad Baker, Megan and Josh Strickland, Amelia and Justin Hatten, Will Duke, and Ana Marie Carrero.
Great grandchildren include Kody and Stephanie Duke, Korynn and Jonathan Newton, Miles Duke, Charleston Duke, Max Duke, Jacob Foley, Elizabeth Foley, Myka Duke, Carley Duke, Noah Duke, Ryleigh Duke, and Emma Baker. One great-great granddaughter, Avery Duke
She is also survived by two sisters, Pallie “Pat” Zontek of Tallahassee, FL and Lucy “Ginny” Kinard of Oxford, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dot was a retired accountant from Fort Gillem/Fort McPherson, a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, GA and had been a resident of Autumn Village prior to her illness.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 16 at 1:00 PM at the Jackson City Cemetery. Larry Duke will officiate. Due to COVID 19 guidelines, there will be no lengthy family visitation where large crowds could gather; however, friends and family may visit Haisten Funeral Home at noon on Saturday or meet with the family at the graveside service. The family wants everyone to remain safe and encourages maintaining CDC guidelines for social distancing during all gatherings.
