John was a widower when he married Eva Carney Hatton who was a widow. They married December 27, 1941 in Kilmarnock, Va., Lancaster County.

BURKHOLDER, John W., was born July 9, 1878, in Bedford County, Va., and died December 5, 1961, at his home in Kilmarnock, Va. From childhood he was a firm believer in God, and lived an exemplary Christian life. He joined the Kilmarnock Seventh-day Ad­ventist Church August 26, 1961. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva C. Burkholder; three daughters; three sisters; two brothers; three stepsons; and one step­ daughter. Funeral services were conducted by his former pastor, Elder A. D. Wetmore, assisted by the writer, in the Kilmarnock Church. - C. A. Carter

John W. Burkholder, 83, died at his home in Kilmarnock (Tuesday, December 5). Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva C. Burkholder; three daughters, Mrs. E. B. J. Whitmore of Huntington, W, Va., Mrs. R. L. Scott of Greensboro, N. C., and Mrs. J. P. Wilbourn of Clarksburg, W. Va.; a son, Cary W. Burkholder of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Olin Meador and Mrs. Pauline Franklin, both of Vinton, and Mrs. George Creasy of Peoria, Ill.; two brothers, H. S. Burkholder of Bedford and G. H. Burkholder of Thaxton; three stepsons, James Hatton of Rockville, Md., Howard and Fred Hatton, both of Washington, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Pauline Hudson of Tappahannock.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church here, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Arthur D. Wetmore will conduct the service.

Pallbearers will be Wharton Carney, Lester Carney, Fred Hatton, Marvin Lewis, D. C. Jenkins and Harry Brent.
