Mrs. Ann Grillo Calabrese, 105, of Linden, entered into eternal rest on Thursday May 7th 2020.
Born in Elizabeth on February 27, 1915 to the late Baldasarie and Vita Puma Grillo she was raised in Elizabeth before moving to Linden in 1978.
Ann was a seamstress with I.L.G.W.A. Local 221 Elizabeth for 50 years working for Eileen’s Sportswear and Manheims Elizabeth retiring in 1977. She then was a cook at St. Elizabeth Church Day Care Center where she brought her own gravy and meatballs for the toddlers.
Ann was an avid Bingo and card player who loved being with her family and friends. Her favorite quote in life was “ Make Peace”.
Ann was the beloved wife of the late Nunzio who died in 1999 and the loving mother of Catherine Czerwinski and her late husband Richard. Cherished grandmother of Jean Van Vliet and her husband Shaun Sr. and Matthew Czerwinski and his girlfriend Dorian Scoles; great-grandmother of Ryleigh. Shaun Jr., Delaney and Gunnar. Dear of Sister of Rita Ciaccio.
Burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery Colonia with a Memorial Funeral Mass to be held at a later date. Services are private.
