SHREVEPORT, LA - Brady Porter, 82, passed away October 9, 2003. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Shreve City Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A native of Winnfield, LA, he became a Christian at the age of seven and was baptized in Weldon, LA. Brady served in World War II with the United States Marine Corps for four years. He spent 2 1/2 years in the Pacific Theater of Operation. Brady retired as Retail Advertising Manager from the Newspaper Production Company (agent for The Times) having been affiliated with them for 46 years. He was married to the former Gloria Lobell and they had three children and five grandchildren. The family joined Shreve City Baptist Church in January, 1967. Working in many areas of their church, Brady was ordained to the Deaconship in March, 1969. Having served on most committees, he was committed to visitation and outreach. Brady was devoted to his family, his wife of 58 years, his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josie Culpepper Bigham and David Porter; his brothers, Guy Bigham, Jr. and David Porter, Jr. He leaves his wife, Gloria; son, Stephen Porter and wife, Cindy; daughters, Sharon Porter and Zeldean Porter-Friedman and husband, Steve; grandchildren, 1st Lt. Brandon Friedman, Colby Friedman, Sarah Porter, Stephen-Holt Porter and Lauren Feazel; sister, Nancy Bigham Callahan and husband, Guy; and sister-in-law, Betty Brown Bigham. Pallbearers will be Jim Rabb, Benoit Lynn, Tom Brown, Gabe Downey, Floyd Jones, Murry Avant, George Bellows and John Turley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Shreve City Baptist Church.
