Daughter of Luther Walthour Kifer and Elizabeth Ann Over, although in her obituary, it has her father listed as James Kifer. This is a mystery to the Kifer family - he was actually Luther Walthour Kifer but when he moved to Pittsburgh changed his name.

Gertrude Kifer, 93, of McMurray, formerly of the Sligo area, died Dec. 21, 1988, at McMurray Hills Manor in McMurray.
Born Dec 27, 1894, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Over Kifer.
During World War I, she served as an army nurse and worked as a nurse for the Board of Education at Pittsburgh.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cleo A. Hawk Funeral Home of Sligo.
