John Frank Ala

John passed away June 8, 2011, in Elko, Nev., at the age of 93.
He was born and raised in Ophir, Utah, the son of Joseph and Inez Ala. He had six brothers and three sisters. John joined the Navy and served three years.
John resided in Montello and Elko, Nev., since 1945. John was a miner. He owned and operated his own mine. He worked for about 10 years for Southern Pacific Railroad as a mechanic, but he was always involved with the mines in one way or another.
John is survived by sister Emma Serassio; brothers George Ala and Al (Lalla) Isi; sisters-in-law Edna Ala and Marion Isi; numerous nieces and nephews; also dear friends and caregivers in Elko.
John is preceded in death by his father; mother; stepfather Tony Isi; brothers Lawrence (Lolly) Ala, Tony Isi, Bill Isi, Dominick (Nell) Isi; sisters Esolina (Jay) Morgan and Erminia Isi; and brother-in-law Jim Serassio.
John always had stories to tell about Ophir and the people involved. His memory was in creditable.
