Susan D. Gudajtes was born May 16, 1948 in Grafton, ND to Leonard and Genevieve (Schanilec) Barta. She was raised on the farm with her seven brothers and sisters, near Forest River, ND while attending Midway School where she graduated in 1966. Susan went on to graduate from North Dakota State University with a degree in Food and Nutrition. After college she was employed by Unity Hospital in Grafton, ND. Susan was united in marriage to John Gudajtes on September 11, 1971 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto, ND. After a honeymoon visiting California and Las Vegas, John and Susan returned to the farm between Minto and Warsaw where they made their home for 40 years, raising their four children there before moving to their home in Minto.
Susan was very proud to be a farm wife. She was active in the community, volunteering her time and energy in so many ways. One of her favorite activities was playing bridge with the Minto Benefit Bridge Club. She loved recipes and trying new foods, she loved flowers, music, spoiling anyone she could, watching her children’s and grandchildren’s baseball games where she felt a good horn honk was better than a clap or cheer, and rarely missed an event of any kind. Susan enjoyed sports, card games, especially Black Jack, cooking for the farm and delivering meals to the field, family, friends, and entertaining, traveling, movies, board games, sleepovers with the grandkids and shopping trips with the girls.
Susan was peacefully called into the arms of our Lord, joining her parents, and sister Cindy.
Private family services will be held on Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Minto, ND.
