YORKSHIRE - Agnes E. Devin, formerly of Westover Avenue, Yorkshire, died Saturday (June 24, 2017) at Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clarence at the age of 94.

She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Albert and Frances Austin Danitz.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Arcade and a member of the former Blessed Sacrament Church in Delevan. She was also a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a former Lady of the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, jig-saw puzzles and plastic canvas.

Prior to her marriage, she helped build airplanes for Curtis Wright in Buffalo during World War II. She was also a seamstress for L.L. Burger in Buffalo, where she worked in the bridal department. Most recently she was the office manager for Devin Manufacturing in Yorkshire.

Her husband, James G. Devin, who she married Oct. 4, 1947, at St. James Church in Buffalo, passed away in 2004.

Agnes is survived by her children, Nadyne (Keith) Litchfield of Great Valley, William (Anne) Devin of Valrico, Fla., and Karen (Timothy) Pause of Delevan; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her son, Richard Devin, who passed away in 1973; and her siblings, Thelma Zaepfel, Adelbert Danitz, Margaret Huth and Eileen Drescher.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (June 29, 2017) at St. Mary's Church, 417 W. Main St., Arcade. She will be laid to rest in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Arcade.
