Funeral Mass for Mary Catherine “Cathy” Sherry,Jennings age 77 of Ogdensburg will be held at 10:00am on Monday (March 26, 2018) at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Justin Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (March 25th) from 12:00 – 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Sherry passed away on Friday (March 23, 2018) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her children Sherry Sweeney of Winston-Salem, NC, Paul “Skip” Sweeney and Brad Jennings both of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Jason Brown, Daniel Sweeney, Donnie Sweeney, Aspen Elvir and Creedence Jennings; several great-grandchildren; siblings Thomas (Barb) Sherry of Lisbon, Linda (Thomas) Wehrle of PA, and Pat (Gary) Mandigo of Ogdensburg.
She was predeceased by three brothers Richard Sherry, James Sherry and Donald Sherry and two sisters Elizabeth Duprey and Kathleen Ankenbrandt.
Cathy was born on June 16, 1940 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Bennett & Helen (Parker) Sherry. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and later married John Jennings who predeceased her.
During her career she worked as a domestic engineer in Rochester, a laborer at Newell Manufacturing and later as a therapy aid at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, where she retired from after 20 years of dedicated service.
She enjoyed watching TV, helping others, praying the rosary at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and volunteering at the Knights of Columbus. Her passion was never about herself, it was always about others. “Pay it Forward”.
