Dwight Claxton, 90, of California, MO passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the California Care Center. He was born on February 5th, 1925 in Centralia, IL. He was married to Laverne Dean on July 25th, 1981 in Mt. Prospect, IL, who survives at the home. Dwight was in the United States Navy during World War II and was assigned to the USS Haggard in the Pacific. He was a member of the Mt. Prospect Bible Church. He enjoyed golfing and fishing as his favorite past times. Survivors include four daughters: Janice Nys and husband Steve of Streamwood, IL, Carolyn Peterson and husband John of Neenah, WI, Linda Pensgard and husband Rick of California, MO, and Darlene Bielinski and husband James of Versailles, MO, one son: David Claxton and wife Denise of Hoffman Estates, IL, one brother: John Claxton and wife Sue of Peru, IN, and three sisters: Bernice Engelhardt of Champagne, IL, Cyntha Hedge and husband Gary of Champagne, IL, and Jean Claxton of St. Louis County, MO. Dwight was blessed with nine grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren. Memorial Services will be on Saturday April 11th 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Officiating will be Pastor Peter Kurowski. Visitation will be Saturday April 11th 2015 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the California Nutrition Center or Honor Flight of Central Missouri c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
