The death of Cyrus Eugene Raymond, whose funeral will be held this afternoon at the home of his half-sister, Mrs. Charles E. Hartman, is more than ordinarily pathetic. Mr. Raymond moved to California 31 years ago and came on recently to visit his relatives for the first time since going to Oakland, the journey proving too much for his weak heart.

Mr. Raymond marreid Miss Ruth Durkee, sister of Alonso E. Durkee of Charles street, and she and two sons survive him. they moved to the Pacific coast soon after marriage, where Mr. Raymond has ever since engaged successfully in business. Deceased has an eventful career during his early life. From the age of 14 until 26, he followed the sea, sailing on some of the fastes clipper ships of the time and entereing every important port in the world. On an exceptionally eventful trip from Hull, England, to Manilla, taking 176 days, he was the victim of a thrilling experience, being washed overboard and then hurled back on deck again by another huge wave.

Cyrus E. Raymond died yesterday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles E. Hartman, 49 Ash street, aged 57 years. He was formerly of Danver but in recent years made his home in Oakland, Cal., and was on a visit to this section. The funeral will be held at 49 Ash street tomorrow at 2:30 o'clock and the body will be sent to Oakland for burial.

The funeral of the late Cyrus Eugene Raymond was held yesterday at the home of Charles E. Hartman, Rev. Frederick J. Ward of the Baptist church officiating. The body will be forwarded to Oakland, California, today by Undertaker William H. Crosby
