Joel was the son of John and Susannah Thomas Matthews. I am unsure of his spouse and children at this time. He died in Centerton, Morgan Co. IN. He was the brother of my 4x gt. grandfather George Matthews, other siblings were John Jr, Rebecca and Mary Matthews. The two children that have been attached to him are not his children. I'm sure that the Rebecca that is attached is his sister but I have no idea who the other woman is. She wasn't born until three years after my death date for Joel.
Recently I was contacted by another Matthews researcher who thinks that Joel the son of John and Susannah stayed in NC and died there in 1821. If I can find proof of this I will be happy to change the death date and place of death but until then I will leave it as originally posted.
