Per his death certificate, John Rouse died on 20 Oct 1918 at the San Joaquin County Hospital in French Camp, San Joaquin County, CA. He entered the county hospital on 29 Aug 1918 and he was cared for by the staff until he died. Dr. J. W. Barnes, one of the treating staff, determined that Mr. Rouse died of "Cirrhosis [of the] Liver." Mr. Rouse was thereafter buried in the Stockton Rural Cemetery on 22 Oct 1918, with the funeral home of B. C. Wallace of Stockton being in charge of the funeral arrangements. George Winter, an employee of the county hospital, provided the personal information for the death certificate. Mr. Rouse was born on 22 Jun 1857 in Brazil, South America, giving him an age of 61 years, 3 months and 28 days when he died. He was white, divorced, and a blacksmith.
