Son of John Baldwin and Rebecca Palmer, husband of Lydia Minor, whom he married on July 8, 1706 in Stonington, Connecticut, and who died on April 22, 1707, and father of John Baldwin, who was born April 18, 1707.

Husband of Elizabeth Avery, the daughter of Thomas Avery and Hannah Minor, whom he married on May 19, 1724 at Montville, New London, Connecticut, by the Rev. James Hillhouse, and father of Elizabeth (married Thomas Prentiss), who was born July 6, 1725, and Mary Baldwin (married Humphrey Avery Jr.), who was born September 14, 1726.

His will was administrated for probate on May 9, 1732 by his brother, Theophilus Baldwin.
