Dr. Calvin C. Acuff, Sr., 91, of Glen Alpine, NC passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Born on September 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Fred and Alda Foster Acuff.

He was a lifelong member and builder of the Table Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

In 1958, he opened his medical practice until his retirement in 1978 when he entered the US Air Force having earned the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was active in Habitat for Humanity. Dr. Acuff was a good, simple man who loved farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Morgan, Foster Morgan, Fred Acuff and Jim Acuff; sister, Virginia Breen.

Dr. Acuff is survived by his wife of 70 years, JoAnn Frye Acuff; children, Suzanne Marie Maggart (Ed) of Asheville, NC, Calvin C. Acuff, Jr., (Lisa) and David Mark Acuff (Maxine) both of Glen Alpine, Lori Rene Jarrett (Roger) of Sumter, SC, April Joy Enderle (Hans) of Asheville, NC, Gene Christopher Acuff (Patty) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Jessica, Calvin III, Carrie, David, Levi, Heather, Christopher, Charlotte, Joseph and Lauren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00pm, Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A Celebration of Dr. Acuff’s Life will be at 5:00pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Watkins and Faye Acuff Bumgarner officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Air Force.
