Jean Anderson Richmond passed away suddenly Monday, November 3, 2014 at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

Jean was born in Oxford, New Jersey and married the late Chester Richmond (Died at age 76 on January 25, 2006 at Baptist West Hospital, Knoxville, Tennesee).
She spent her life in service to others volunteering for reading for the blind, ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens), NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness). She also volunteered for many other service organizations. Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, playing the piano, and organ, as well as enjoying playing bridge and Pinochle.

Jean was a long-time resident of Oak Ridge, TN, having moved there with her family in the 1970's from Los Alamos, New Mexico. She was the mother of five children including two sets of twins.

Jean was a bright light in the lives of so many people. Her smile and constant energy were uplifting to all those she touched. She is very much loved. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ella Anderson, sister, Alice Steeley and son David Scott Richmond.

She is survived by her four daughters, Allyson Richmond of Atlanta, Andrea Richmond of Knoxville, Jacqueline Richmond of Maryville. Roberta Richmond-Hashemi of Nashville and Son-In Law, Ahmad Hashemi and two grandchildren, Brenna Richmond-Hashemi and A.J.Richmond-Hashemi and friend, Sharon Brown.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm at Weatherford Mortuary on Saturday, November 8th, 2014. A short memorial service will follow at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to SARG (Shelter Animals Rescue Group) c/o Shirley Auble, 134 Newell Lane, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
